The Sheet Metal Workers’
Local 15 JATC jurisdiction cover 26 counties in the Central Florida Area;
therefore, we have two locations in Orlando and Tampa, Florida, where training
is available.
Training provided to apprentices includes:
 |
Safety
– Osha 10 Hour class that includes certifications in Powered Industrial
Trucks Operation (forklift training) Powered Industrial Tools
certification (Hilti) and OSHA 10 hour card. |

Sheet Metal
Mathematics – Includes basic fractions,
decimals, percents, conversions, equations, area, volume and
trigonometry. |
 |
Sheet Metal
Layout – basic HVAC fittings, Radial line,
Parallel line and Triangulation. |
 |
Drafting and
Sketching – Plans, Orthographic projection,
Isometric drawings, freehand sketching. |
 |
Plans and
Specifications – Learn how to read
Architectural, Electrical, Structural and Mechanical Drawings and the
specifications the go with them. |
 |
Residential
Installation – Certification in Fiberglass
Duct Construction. Learn how to install a residential type unit
including Brazing, Low Voltage (thermostats), Charging, Evacuating,
Recovery and Start up. Includes the EPA exam preparation and test for
certification. |

Welding
– Learn Oxy-Acetylene (Cutting Torch), Shielded Metal Arc Welding
(Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG).
Ability to obtain welding certifications though the American Welding
Society (AWS). |

Test and
Balance – Learn how to use measuring
instruments to verify that an HVAC system is working according to the
engineer’s intent and provide professionally prepared reports to them. |

Service Work
– Certification in Fiberglass Duct
Construction. Learn how to install a residential type unit including
Brazing, Low Voltage (thermostats), Charging, Evacuating, Recovery,
Start up and Trouble Shooting. Includes EPA exam preparation and test
for certification. |

Architectural – Learn different types of
installation and fabrication including flashing, coping, gutters and
down spouts, leader heads, metal roofing and various other applications
associated with Architectural sheet metal.

Training provided to Journeymen includes:
